Brief History

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, under the administrative control of IISR, Lucknow is an innovative institution to impart vocational trainings to farmers, farms women, rural youths and extension functionaries. It conducts problem based on-farm trials to assess the relevant and usable technologies on farmers’ fields. It also organizes FLD to demonstrate promptly the latest agricultural technologies. This Kendra was established on 25 December, 1999 keeping in mind to accelerate the agricultural production and also to improve the socio-economic conditions of the farming community of Lucknow district.

Mandate and function

• Technology assessment, refinement & demonstration of technology/products and its following functions
• On-farm testing to identify the location specificity of agricultural technologies under various farming systems
• Organize Frontline Demonstrations to establish production potential of technologies on the farmers’ fields
• Training of farmers to update their knowledge and skills in modern agricultural technologies
• Training of extension personnel to orient them in the frontier areas of technology development
• To work as resource and knowledge centre of agricultural technology for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district
