Association of Sugarcane Technologists of India

The association of sugarcane technologists of Indian is a scientific body which was founded on January 5, 1976. The main aim of the association is to promote the increase of knowledge of the science and practice of sugarcane technology for persons following or studying for the profession and other branches of science. The association was fortunate to have Honble Sh. N.D. Tewari, the them Finance Minister, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh and latter Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttar Khand and Union Minister, Govt. of India as its Founder President. He guided the association for few years of its inception. The association had the privilege of receiving patronage and guidance from several eminent personalities from time to time as its presidents in the past who took keen interest and were a source of great inspiration. Infact the association could attain its present status due to untiring efforts of its presidents in the past i.e. H.N. Sahi, and the continued patronage and guidance from the current president, Dr. R.L. Yadav, Director, IISR, Lucknow.
The association has organized several seminars/symposia in past which provided a wide platform for exchange of ideas on various issues of national as well as regional importance for sugarcane research and sugar industry. The association has also organized a International Symposium on Food, Nutrition and Economic Security through Diversification in Sugarcane Production and Processing System during February 16-18, 2002 at, IISR, Lucknow. The association brings a Journal entitled Indian Journal of Sugarcane Technology every year. Association published its first issue of Indian Journal of Sugarcane Technology in June 1978.
